duplicity...

today i was surprisingly productive. i was able to grocery shop, wash my hair, and have a reasonably timed hangout all in one day. i'm usually unable to do more than two tasks on any given day (yayy executive dysfunction :D) but i feel like i'm starting to get the hang of juggling things...

i woke up earlier than usual and decided to get started on breakfast before my roommates took custody of the kitchen. i ate a block of tofu with a meat sauce on top and i'm genuinely beginning to realize that having a somewhat substantial breakfast can really shape how the rest of my day goes,,food and eating in general is a somewhat complex topic for me that deserves it's own post, but i can say that today was a very hearty, good, food day. i ended up having roti with channa at my bestie's house and just had some dinner my roommate cooked. as soon as i'm finished writing this i anticipate that i'll fall into a deep food coma.

hanging out was fun as usual. i talked to my bestie about a recent youtube video by FD signifier about Tyler Perry (i recommend his channel if you're black and/or lefty). there was so much discourse about his movies and career in general. on a whim, i suggested we watch one of perry's recent films to see how bad it's really gotten and i have to say i was honestly surprised.

the movie was so bad it inspired the birth and title of this post. after viewing it, we were just annoyed. it felt like the movie was made just to generate discourse and i guess it worked on me. i'm not gonna go into an in depth review but it's basically a cop brutality drama thriller where Tyler Perry tries to pull a M. Night Shamalayn-esque twist at the end that falls completely flat to the point it's almost laughable, except the writing & direction is genuinely so bad it's not even funny anymore. there are some parts that were corny and unintentionally funny, but the 'twist' ending that becomes more and more predictable as you watch the movie completely kills any 'good' qualities it has. i literally fell asleep for a few minutes during the middle of the movie and could still tell how the plot was gonna play out. despite being just under 2 hours the movie seemed to drag on and on.

needless to say i don't recommend it at all, unless you accidentally come across it and need background noise for an unspecified situation. besides that, it is not a piece of media worth investing any attention into, like i have. me and my friend both came to conclusion that it's funny how Tyler Perry is the blueprint for most low-budget ghetto drama tubi movies (ifykyk) but he's somehow regressed into making work that seems to be of the same exact quality. it's like he's a parody of himself.

after viewing that shit from a butt, we went on a mini-marathon of music videos from a youtube playlist called "worst music videos ever", most of them were actually quite good. a lot just seemed campy to me or like a group of people or a person just having fun making music. i unintentionally got a lot of inspo from seeing the way people put together music videos when they're low budget or indie,,i definitely wanna make something of that caliber of campiness soon.

overall, it was a nice day. despite the leftovers from the blizzard, the sidewalks and streets were mostly plowed. it was also really sunny with some clouds (my fav type of weather). the remaining snow dazzled me when i put my glasses on, it was kinda pretty and sparkly though cause it hasn't gotten that dirty yet. i wore my glasses to take the train cause i've been getting tired of squinting to read the map. i do wanna get new ones soon, though because mine are a bit crooked now. ok, i'm starting to ramble so i think that's my brain signaling that it's time to go to bed. i have a few things i wanna do tomorrow.....
